Here's how the commission process works:

  1. Share Your Idea: Whether you have a specific concept in mind or just a general idea, don't hesitate to reach out to me. Share your thoughts, inspiration, and any reference photos you have. I'm here to listen and collaborate with you. Please keep in mind if you're looking for a family portrait, I have a unique style and depending on the reference photo and what we discuss, I may turn it down if I do not feel comfortable with it, or I do not see a vision that I can create with ease. 

  2. Discuss and Confirm: Once I receive your idea, we'll discuss it together. I'll provide feedback and suggestions, and we'll work together to refine the concept until you're completely satisfied. Your comfort and confidence in the idea are paramount.

  3. Size and Pricing: After finalizing the concept, we'll determine the size of the canvas that best fits your vision. Based on the size and complexity of the artwork, I'll provide you with a transparent pricing quote.

  4. Reference Photo: Most of my work is based on a reference photo. If you have a specific image you'd like me to use, please share it with me during the initial discussion.

  5. Shipping: Once the artwork is completed, shipping will be an additional cost. I'll provide you with shipping options and pricing based on your location.

  6. Communication:   Throughout the process, I'll keep you updated on the progress of your custom piece. Feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. Communication is key to ensuring that your artwork turns out exactly as you envision it.

  7. Wait Times: I understand that you're excited to receive your custom artwork. I'll provide you with an estimated timeframe for completion, taking into account the size and complexity of the piece. Rest assured, I'll work diligently to deliver your artwork within the agreed-upon timeframe.

Hi, I’m Kyla Fortier — the artist behind Art by KMF. I create bold, colorful pop art & abstract pieces that are full of energy, emotion, & storytelling. Art has always been a part of my life, but in 2020 I began taking it seriously, and it quickly grew from a passion into my career.


I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, but now call Kelowna, BC home. Living in the Okanagan has been a huge source of inspiration for me — from the colors of the landscape to the vibrant creative community here. My work reflects both where I’ve been & where I’m going, combining personal stories, modern style, & a love for making every canvas feel alive.


For me, art is more than just paint on canvas — it’s connection. It’s about creating pieces that spark conversations, bring energy into a space, & remind people of the beauty & boldness of life.
